Sharing documents

This week I’ve learnt how to use Google Docs, a program in which you can share documents with your friends and colleagues. It is very useful because you can edit a work and see also editing from other persons who want you to see and collaborate to it.
At first sight, it was kind of difficult to understand how this program worked because I’ve never actively used it and just heard about it. However, I finally managed to share my corrections to the reference list document for E- tivity 7 with my peers and Sarah.

In my opinion, Google Docs would be a useful instrument for thesis or researches, if only there were professors willing to use it! This would be an easier way to edit a work by simply staying at home and sending corrections to a professor at the same time.
See you soon!
Bye Arianna

  1. Hello Arianna!
You had a great idea: we could use Google Docs to prepare our thesis! I know many professors don't use these kinds of tools, but at least we can tell them we think they are very useful and maybe we'll convince them...

As far as language is concerned, I noticed you used the present perfect and "also"!!! It sounds too natural to you, eh??? :-) Here are some other things I noticed on your post:
    * "collaborate to it" : you can say "collaborate on sth" or "collaborate in doing sth";
    * "It is very useful because you can edit a work and see also editing from other persons who want you to see and collaborate to it."
I think it's a bit difficult to understand this sentence... but it may be a problem only for me! :-)

    Bye byeee,
    Ilaria.

  2. Hello Arianna!

I see you finally managed with adding a clickable word! In the future if you have any doubt ask me and I’ll be pleased to help you (if I can).

I didn’t think about sharing documents with our supervisor for the dissertation we’re going to write. We would save a lot of time using Google Docs instead of going every time to “ricevimento”… the most of times it is a big loss of time. I particularly feel this problem because I have 2 hours and a half of train travel to come to Padova and go back home.

As far as the language in your post is concerned, I have only few things to tell you.
    • I noticed you like to use “can” and “would” as a conditional tense. I think you should avoid using them so much because they imply a kind of uncertainty to your text that I don’t think is your purpose. You can use simply the simple present tense.
    • You used the present perfect tense “I’ve never actively used it…” but in this sentence you are talking about something you did in the past and so should use the simple past.
    • Ilaria pointed out to you her doubts about a sentence in her comment. I have some doubts on that sentence too. I think it is quite difficult to understand…perhaps try to change it.

That’s all. I hope to hear from you soon. Bye bye,
    Chiara

  3. Hi, Arianna! I think you're right! I didn't think about the possibility to use Google Docs for the thesis, probably because I do not consider Google Docs from the right point of view. I need to know more about it, in order to use it in the best way!!
    I'll try!

i cannot write anything about the language you used or the mistakes you did, because Ilaria and Chiara provided you a very clear language feedback. I don't need to add anything else! (I always arrive third :-( )

    See you tomorrow!
    Martina
